dandelion painting

Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, I get to spend the day with my two youngest while my oldest is at school. While Carter is sleeping, I like to try and find something creative to do with Addie. She probably loves doing projects just as much as I do, and it has become a really fun thing for us to do. We make lists of the things we want to try out, and if we have all of the supplies, we do it that day. We have had dandelions on the brain lately since they seem to be taking over the lawns and fields around us. Addie wanted to paint, and so I thought it would be fun to do a dandelion kids craft together.

Kids craft project

This one takes minimal supplies, and the clean up is a breeze. All you need is some q-tips, paint, and construction paper. (and maybe a cute assistant or two :))

Start with the stems of the flowers in green and use the q-tips to paint them on the paper. The reason I used q-tips is because I don’t have to worry about cleaning out brushes, and I can throw them away as soon as we are done. Once you have the stems painted, use a little bit of brown paint at the top of the stem, and then let it dry a little bit so that when you do the white dandelion seeds, the paint doesn’t blend together too much.

Last, you’ll use white paint to create the seeds. Create a circle pattern with white dots, and then fill in the middle with more dots. It doesn’t have to be perfect, and truthfully, I love that Addie’s is just scattered to her heart’s content.

This was a perfect afternoon project for the two of us, and you should definitely give it a try sometime!
