Glittery Shamrock Hair Clips
As you know, every Sunday, we like to share little girl hairstyles with you in our Sunday Styles posts along with full video tutorials so that you can try them out for yourself. I thought it might be fun to try something new and I have some hair bow tutorials to go along with the hairstyles! Isn’t that fun?! Since St. Patrick’s Day is coming up, I will start with these glittery shamrock hair clips that are so so easy, and so so cute!
To get started, you’ll need:
- Glittery fabric material (I find mine at Hobby Lobby in the aisle next to the crafting felt. It is an 8X10 piece of stiff glittery fabric)
- Metal Clip
- Ribbon
- Hot Glue Gun
First, you will find a four leaf clover shape that you like and trace it onto the back of the glitter fabric. I used a felt sticker that I found at the craft store and it was slightly smaller than I wanted it to be. I simply added about 1/4 inch all the way around the sticker as I traced. Once you’ve got it traced, cut it out and then use that shamrock to trace a second shamrock. One thing to keep in mind is that you are going to be gluing them wrong sides together, so trace it on the back with the glitter side of the shamrock up and the glitter side of the fabric you’re tracing onto, down.
Now that you have your pieces cut out, you’re going to use the hot glue gun to put them together. I would use the glue sparingly because you don’t want the pieces to be too thick with glue or stiff. Once you have them glued together, bend the shamrock a little bit so that it stays flexible.
That’s the hardest part of the whole tutorial. See?! I told you it was easy!
Next, you’re going to glue the coordinating ribbon to your clip making sure the side that goes into the hair doesn’t have any ribbon on it. Once you have the ribbon glued into place, glue the shamrock onto the ribbon side of the hair clip.
You’re done! Now go try out a cute new hairstyle and finish it off with a darling shamrock for St. Patrick’s Day!
