How to French Braid
Hello friends! So I have been told countless times over the years “I can’t braid” or “Braiding is too hard” or “I could never learn how to braid” and many other versions of the same thing. I always tell people you can learn how to french braid if you just keep trying. I remember being in 6th grade, sitting in front of the mirror and teaching myself how to braid. I couldn’t begin to tell you how many hours I spent in front of that mirror frustrated and annoyed because well, “I just couldn’t do it”. This was a long time ago, before the amazing thing known as the internet. Just out of pure determination I figured it out. So, all these years later, here I am to help you in your braid journey, in a much more convenient way. A little tip before we start, I believe that doing a braid on wet hair is much easier to do than on dry. The hair is a lot easier to control and keep in its sections.
Start by combing the hair back from the face. Parting a section off at the top of the head, separate that into 3 pieces. Take the middle strand and place it over the right section, making that right piece your new middle. Then take the middle and cross it over the left section, making it the new left section. Picking up a piece on the right side, combine it with the right piece. Picking up a piece on the left, combine it with the left piece. Cross the middle section over the right, making it the new right, cross the middle section over the left making it the new left. Picking up more hair on the right side, combine it with the right and pick up hair on the left, combining it with the left piece. Cross the middle piece over the right making it the new right section. Cross the middle piece over the left, making it the new left section. Continue doing that down the head until you have picked up all the hair and only have your 3 strands left. Continue crossing the middle section over the right, and then the left until you have reached the end of the hair
It might sound complicated as you read it. But I know you can do it! It will take some time to perfect. Do not be discouraged! Just keep trying! Take it slow. It really is just taking the middle piece and placing it over one side then the other. Once you get the hang of it, a whole new world of styles and fun things await you!
