Valentines Gift for Grandparents | Candy Bar Letter
Every year, my mother in law thoughtfully plans a Valentine’s Day party and invites us all over for a night of fun. We always leave well fed and feeling spoiled. This year, my sister in law suggested that we all bring a Valentine to give to them since they are always so kind to us. I had a bunch of different ideas of what I thought would be fun, but ultimately, I thought it would be best to do a Valentine themed candy bar letter since they always seem to make people smile. Here’s what I did just in case you need an idea for a Valentines gift for grandparents or anyone else that you might be giving to this year.
I went to Target and bought assorted Valentine’s candies that I thought would be good to use, and a red poster board, and then I brought them home and got to work.
I folded my poster board in half so that it would look like a giant card and I really think it made it even cuter! It is always best to write your ideas down on a separate piece of paper first before creating the actual candy bar letter. Then, once you have the letter figured out, place the candies on the board in the order they would appear and make sure you have enough space to write the sentences around them. Before taping anything down, start writing the sentences around the candy that you have placed on the card.
The front definitely needed to be decorated. Once I had the words written on the inside, I moved the candy and let my daughter help me decorate the front. I used a Sharpie marker to write “Happy Valentine’s Day” as well as some lines on the front, and then I pulled out foam heart stickers and let my daughter do her thing. I think it turned out pretty cute!
I used packing tape to secure all of the candies to the board next, and it worked like a charm! We gave the card to my inlaws at their party, and they seemed to really like it.
