Grand Girls Tea Party Tradition
Last year, my mom decided to start a new annual tradition for all of the grand girls in our family, and put together the first grand girls tea party. It all starts with my great grandmother (Granny) and her hats.
My Granny was a proper lady. She always liked to have her hair just so, and had hats for every occasion. She was very particular about proper manners and table etiquette and made sure to teach those manners to each of us.
When she passed away, my mom was gifted Granny’s hats and the amazing hat boxes along with some tea cups and saucers. The idea came to my mom that we should keep the memory of Granny alive by having a tea party with the grand girls using the hats and tea cups, and throughout the tea party, we would tell stories of Granny.
The girls loved all of it. The mini sandwiches, the raised pinkies, the stories, all of it was a memory that our girls are looking forward to again this year. My mom is already in the planning stages for this year’s tea party, and I can’t wait.
