cheesy garlic herb pull apart bread

The Super Bowl is coming up and I can’t wait to get together with my family and watch the game….Go sports team! Let’s be honest here. I don’t even know who is in the running for playing at the super bowl. Now that that is out of the way, we all know it’s all about the commercials and the food. Since I don’t really watch the actual game, I might as well make food that is easy, but appeals to everyone. This cheesy garlic herb bread is about as delicious as it sounds, and you will want to make more than one because it will be gone in minutes.

yummy cheese bread

Fresh ingredients are a must for this recipe! Grab some artisan bread, fresh herbs, garlic, and mozzarella from your local grocery store and you’ll be set to make this deliciousness. It looked delicious even before I put it into the oven, but once that cheese was melted and the garlic and herbs were baked into the bread……mmmmmm! That’s the only word to describe it.

I decided to pair my bread as a side dish with some Red Baron pizza to keep dishes at a minimum. I actually really like the Red Baron pizza. I have had their french bread pizza before, and think it is delicious. I thought I would try out their full size pizza as well, and was pleasantly surprised. My family ate it as fast as I could get it out of the oven!

I found the pizza at Target in the frozen food section, and when I was there, they even had a buy 3 for $10 deal going on which is pretty dang good! When you pair that deal with the 5% off deal they have through cartwheel, you’ve got a steal for a meal.  The pizzas cook up in only 17 minutes. Once they are cooked, I like to cut into strips instead of slices just to make it look a little fancier, but also because you can make this amazing marinara sauce to dip both the bread and the pizza in.

When you make this bread, do me a favor and just pull the first piece of bread out slowly and enjoy the string of melted cheese that comes out with it. It is a thing of beauty really.

super bowl food

Of course, every super bowl party needs a dessert, so I also grabbed an Edwards frozen cookies and cream pie while I was at Target. It is delicious. You really can’t go wrong with oreos and ice cream! The entire meal was a resounding hit at my house, and I had everyone asking for more! Not too bad considering just how easy it was to make all of it!

Cheesy Garlic Herb Bread

Ingredients

  • 1 crusty sourdough or artisan loaf
  • 4 ounces (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
  • 2 teaspoons fresh rosemary, minced
  • 2 teaspoons fresh thyme, minced
  • 3/4 cup shredded Mozzarella cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  2. Combine the melted butter, garlic, salt, parsley, rosemary, and thyme in a small bowl.
  3. With a serrated bread knife, cut the bread into 1-inch squares, being careful not to slice all the way through.
  4. Using your fingers, open the bread at each crack and drizzle with butter mixture and the shredded mozzarella cheese.
  5. Wrap the entire loaf in foil. To make ahead, place the foil wrapped bread in the fridge overnight or in the freezer for a month, thawing before baking.
  6. Place on a cookie sheet and bake for 15 minutes, or until the cheese has mostly melted.
  7. Carefully remove the foil and continue to bake for another 5 minutes, or until crusty.
  8. Serve immediately.
