Candy Nest Cupcakes

My three year old loves to help me in the kitchen. It is almost daily that she is asking me if she can help me cook dinner or if we can make cookies together. I was shopping at Target the other night and got the idea that I should make spring cupcakes with my girls when I saw the fun candy grass from Twizzlers. I grabbed all of the things I would need to make both some rainbow cupcakes as well as some birds nest cupcakes with my girls and headed home. Cupcakes for kids

Who doesn’t love funfetti cupcakes?! I knew that was the flavor we needed to get for the optimal amount of fun. I also used a little bit of gel food coloring to make three different colored frostings out of the one jar of frosting.

To say that my kids had fun would be an understatement. My niece was also involved in the fun, and they all decorated for about 45 minutes! Their cupcakes turned out a little “different” than the ones that I did, but that was what made it so fun. They let their imaginations decide what they would end up with.

Rainbow Cupcakes

This is the perfect activity to get your kids ready for Easter and Springtime. Seriously. I don’t know why I didn’t do this sooner with them because it ended up being a really fun night.

As a helpful tip, the airheads are in the dollar section, the twizzlers and robins eggs are in the easter section, and the cake mix and frosting are in the baking aisle at Target. Now go get some and try it out with your kids! You’ll be so glad that you did!
