Strawberry & Cream Scones
Spring is on its way and I have just the treat for you while waiting! These scones are a bowl full of strawberries and cream in one soft, tender pastry. I mean, what says ‘warm weather’ better than berries and cream? Well, aside from the obvious things like popsicles and grilled pineapple. But we’ll ignore those for now.
Real, fresh strawberries are the star of these scones and they are topped off with a glaze made from rich, thick, heavy cream. They are best eaten on the day they are baked, but I wish you luck on keeping them around for that long.
If you are looking for a treat that is low in sugar, these scones(without the icing on top) only have 1 1/2 t. of sugar in each one. I feel pretty good about that!
Head on over to my blog for the Strawberry Scone recipe. You can find the recipe for the icing at the bottom of this post.
Ingredients
- 1 C. Powdered Sugar
- 2-4 T. Heavy Cream
Instructions
- To make the cream icing, place the powdered sugar in a bowl. Pour 2 T. of the heavy whipping cream in the center and whisk until combined. Add more cream and stir until the desired consistency is achieved(less for thicker icing and more for thinner). Drizzle over cooled scones.
*****Thanks Kayley!!! These look delicious! I have never made scones before, and have never tried any with strawberries. I am definitely needing to give these a try sometime!
