There is something that I just can’t get enough of when it comes to Valentines Day. All of the pinks and reds and celebrations of love, I just love it all!  Of course that means that I decorate all that I can for the big event and my mantel is one of my favorites!  I’ve been dreaming about how I would decorate it this year, and this weekend I finally got it all put together.  Check out my Valentines Day mantel!

Valentines Day Mantel 2

I am in love with it, especially since it only cost me $7 to put it all together!  You can’t beat that!  I started with some red and white tissue paper poms from Walmart.  They only cost $1 each!  They make a big statement without breaking the bank.  I also had my lights up that I put there during Christmas and don’t know if I will ever take them down!  I love the way that they look across my mantel.

Next I made all of the pin wheels.  This is super easy too!  All you need is some scrapbook paper in different patterns and colors. Fold your paper like a fan and then fold it in half.  This will make up one half of your pinwheel.  Repeat this with another paper that is the same color/pattern and then use hot glue to put them together.  I start with gluing the two halves of the same paper together and then I glue them to the other paper.  The hot glue really works well in holding them so that you don’t have to worry about waiting too long for the glue to dry.

Decorations for Valentines Day

I hung all of the pinwheels on the mantel and then pulled out my favorite Valentines decoration, my love sign!  I won this at bunco years ago and I use it every single year (thanks Jessica for bringing it that day!)  I also decided that I needed one more little thing and threw in my felt heart bunting that I made two years ago.  You can go check out the tutorial for that to make one for yourself.  It is super easy but makes a big statement!

Valentines Day Decorations

Last, I also added my mailboxes because it is a tradition that I LOVE doing with my girls.  They get so excited that starting February 1st, there is a treat or prize waiting for them every morning.  It has been something that I look forward to every year!
