Growing up, my great grandmother, “Granny” was always so good at making holidays special. She was the master at sending cards and packages and letting you know that you were loved by her. Every card she sent was signed “Love, Granny” and I still have some of those cards in a box because of how much it meant to me. Ever since she passed away, that is definitely something that I have missed and wanted to do better with my own family. She is the reason I like to make sure to celebrate each holiday with my little girls, and this year I thought I would carry on Granny’s tradition and send some packages to my nieces and nephews with the help of Hallmark since that is what Granny would do! Everyone likes getting packages and cards! Let me show you how to make your loved ones feel special without breaking the bank.
At Walmart, they have a bunch of $1 Valentine items for sale right now that make the perfect thing to add to a package. The best part is that there are quite a few of the same item for only a dollar so you can split it up between packages.
I have a sister that has two little girls and sister in law that has two little boys. It makes it easy for me because I just have to make two different themed packages, one for girls and one for boys! I wanted to get a card that would be just right for the package but didn’t want to spend a lot. I found this package of cards and it was PERFECT! I loved that it had a girl and boy version in the same package. There are 6 cards and the cost was $5 which is just right and I still have cards leftover to use for other people.
I bought cute little tins to put the items in, and the best part is that you can just tape up the tin, put a mailing label on the top and mail it! If you don’t want to use the tins, a box works great too. Just roll up those window clings with the long
For the girls, I put in a cute love bug Hallmark Valentines card, some heart slinkies, window clings, stamps, and treats. The total cost? Only $6! The window clings are the must have item for the package because that was the one thing that Granny included in every single package she ever sent and we always loved playing with them.
The boys get the same treats as well as some fun dinosaur figurines and a spider Hallmark card.
Of course, while I was at it, I needed to pick up cards for my own Valentines.
I thought my girls would love these cards that comes with a charm bracelet, and the card I got for my husband is the coolest one I have ever seen! Not only does it play music, but it lights up! You’ll have to head over to Walmart and find it just so you can see what I am talking about. The Hallmark cards are easy enough to find, just look for the red aisles. 🙂
After you pick out your Hallmark cards, be sure to head over to connectionsfromhallmark.com to sign up for Hallmark Rewards, and to see other fun Valentine ideas from other bloggers. I used to be really good at putting together cute packages for my niece and nephews. Maybe it’s time I start up again. Those cards are so cute!
You definitely need to! They would love it!
Those cards are adorable! What a cute gift idea!
Thank you!
Great ideas for the little ones! I used to make little gift baskets for my cousin when he was younger, but now he is a teenager!
I’m feeling inspired! I was trying to decide what to do for my son. He’s only three, so I didn’t want to go crazy on candy… and he loves little boxes and containers for play.
I love the care packages you put together! They’re so creative! I would love to put some of these together as well, including the Hallmark Valentine’s Day cards of course. Thanks for sharing. #client
So cute. I never thought to put a Valentine in a tin.
