gift tag tutorial

This week has been so fun!  I might just have some more vinyl posts coming up for you in the future, who knows?  I wanted to announce the winner of the Expressions Vinyl $25 gift card, but before I do, I wanted to show you one last vinyl project that you can do whether you have a Silhouette or Cricut machine!  These reusable chalkboard gift tags are the perfect addition to any gifts that you might be giving this holiday season because they are a gift that keeps on giving!

DIY Chalboard Tags

These are so simple to make!  All you need to get started are a few supplies:

Chalkboard tags

Begin by tracing your wooden shape onto the backside of the chalkboard vinyl.  Then you will simply cut out the shape using scissors and then apply the vinyl.  Next, you will use your hot glue to attach the shaped piece of wood onto your clothespin.  If you want it to have an even stronger hold, you could always use wood glue.  I figured that these tags wouldn’t be abused too much so hot glue would work great.  The last step is to rub your piece of chalk over the top of the vinyl.  This makes it primed and ready for writing.  If you don’t rub the chalk first and then wipe it off, anything that you write will become a permanent feature.  Priming the chalkboard vinyl is so that you can erase without a problem.  Now you just need to address your gift and attach it and you are ready to go!
