I am teaming up with Holly from Bits of Everything again this week to bring you some fun handmade ornament ideas!  We meant to get this ball rolling on Monday, but life after Thanksgiving takes a little bit of time to get back to normal.  Holly already posted a fun idea using felt yesterday, so be sure to check that out!  Today, I am going to show you some fun kid ornaments that you can make with your kids!

When I was young, my mom made some of these for my grandma one year using ornament shaped pieces of wood.  I remember seeing them every year on her tree and it was a fun way to see the change in the family as we grew up.  My mom let us all paint our own ornaments and then she put our pictures on them.  It was only natural that I should make them of my own kids.  These are so simple to make, and my girls loved helping me put them together!  I bought star shaped pieces of wood from Hobby Lobby and pulled out the green paint.  I let the girls paint the green and they also helped me with the glitter part.  I used some green glitter glue that I had in my stash and just applied it to the wood and let it dry.

Using a circular lid that was just the right size to fit inside of my star, I used it as a guide to cut out the photos of my girls.  Then before the glue had dried on the star, I put the picture on and then outlined it in the same glitter glue.

Last, I attached a piece of ribbon using hot glue and added the year they were made to the back.  Ta-da!  They are super easy to make, and are so fun to see on the Christmas tree.
