How to Make a Bean Bag Toss
Here is the last Halloween game that I have to share with you for today. I am going to show you how to make a bean bag toss. If you missed my other two Halloween game posts, you can read about the Mummy Game & Prank here, and the Pin the Spider on the Web game here.
To make a bean bag toss, all you need to get started is some foam core board (I got mine from Michael’s and they were 2 for $3) and you will need an xacto knife or something similar.
I drew a simple ghost like shape on the board using a pencil, and made the mouth large enough for the bean bags to fit through. I was originally going to cut out the eyes as well to have more then one place to throw the bags through, but the mouth was enough for our purposes.
I traced the ghost shape with a sharpie marker to make it stand out more, and made it a girl by adding a simple bow. My girls decided to help me finish coloring while I wasn’t looking. I could have photoshopped it out, but this is real life. No need to edit. 🙂 After I had the ghost traced, I used my x-acto knife to cut out the mouth.
I whipped up a couple of bean bags for the game. I had some black and white chevron felt and decided it would work perfectly. You just need to cut a long rectangle that when folded in half makes a square. Sew wrong sides together leaving an opening. Flip the fabric right side out and fill the bag with rice or beans. I used barley because that was something I happened to have on hand. After I filled the bags about 3/4 full, I folded the raw edges into the bag and sewed them shut using a zig zag stitch. Very rudimentary, but they don’t need to be fancy!
That’s it! I spent a total of $3 for all the supplies. It was a lot of fun for the kids and adults! We just leaned it up against a chair and had someone standing nearby to help keep it up. You could figure out a stand if you would like, but it worked for us just fine this way.
Anyway, I hope these games were helpful for you if you were scrambling trying to find something fun to do!
eep this is so cute and fun. I think the nieces would love to help me make and play with one of these
I’m in charge of a Hween party on Saturday, and I’m thinking I need to make one of these!
