Mosaic Bean Art and Belt Chair

This last week, I was talking with some friends about this competition.  The general consensus was that the projects have all been amazing, but they would never be able to duplicate the projects themselves because they don’t have the tools or the know how to be able to build it.

With that in mind, I decided for my last project, to create something that literally ANYONE could duplicate no matter their talent or budget.

Using an old chair, belts, vase, lamp shade and frame (all from the thrift store) I was able to create a whole new look that can be customized to any taste.

To do the bean art, I simply found a picture online that I liked, projected it onto my old painting and traced the image.  Then it turns into a big paint by numbers, only using beans instead.   I think the art only cost me $5.00 total including the $2.00 I spent on the framed art.  I couldn’t believe that I could be so lucky as to find such a big frame for only $2.00!

The chair had no seat on it and I wanted an easy affordable solution that looked really cool.  The belts were another thing I got at the thrift store.  Weaving them together and then tacking them to the underside of the chair gave the chair a unique and modern look.

The clear vase got a coat of turquoise paint and some branches from the yard.  Then I simply covered the lamp shade in a solid fabric and then stenciled the design onto it.  I also used a stencil on the pillow which I made from an old skirt I found at the thrift store.

There you have it.  Home decor that anyone can duplicate and that can be suited to your personal tastes.
