Valentines Day Shirt | Iron On Vinyl

I can’t even contain how excited I am about how this project and these pictures turned out. Is there anything cuter than little girlies wearing bows, lipstick, and hearts? I was at Target the other day and found these darling grey shirts with gold hearts. I loved the simplicity of them, and wanted to add a little something extra to up the cute factor.

It is such a simple addition, but it makes a big impact. For Addie’s shirt, I went with “Kiss Me”, and for Lillie’s shirt, I decided I liked the word “lovely.” I pulled out my Silhouette machine and got to work finding fonts that I loved for each of the shirts.

When using a cursive font with your Silhouette, you’ll want to change the kerning to make the letters closer together so that there aren’t spaces between the lines. With the font I chose, the first “L” was not really in an ideal location, so I separated the letters and moved just the first one into place, and then I also moved the “Y” so that it connected better to the word. After you have the letters exactly where you want them, you’ll want to meld the letters together so that the cut is a clean cut.

The “Kiss Me” shirt is much more straight forward and it was just a matter of finding a cute font. I did slide the letters closer together just slightly, but I could have left them alone as well.

After I had the words just right, I flipped them so that they were a mirror image, and then grabbed my gold glittery iron on vinyl that I got from Expressions vinyl. I cut out the words, weeded out the excess vinyl, and then ironed the vinyl onto the shirts. I love iron on vinyl simply because it is so SO easy to weed out and the clear sticky backing makes placing the vinyl exactly where you want it a breeze.

My girls thought they were pretty hot stuff doing this photo shoot. The glasses were a nice added touch for the pictures, and I picked them up at the Target dollar spot (my biggest weakness…).

I love that even thought these shirts are technically made for Valentine’s Day, they aren’t in your face holiday colored and my girls can wear them even after the holiday is over! You should definitely go grab some shirts and vinyl and get making some of your own today!
