Don’t you just love a good, flaky pastry? I do. And I’ve really been craving one as of late, so I got busy baking and came up with these tasty danishes in one of my favorite flavor combinations: Chocolate Cherry. And not just any chocolate, mind you. Nutella.

These make a perfect dessert, breakfast, or snack. Flaky layers of puff pastry stuffed with gooey and tangy cream cheese filling, sweet saucy dark cherries and just a touch of nutella. I think I’d be fine with having these for dinner as well.

Chocolate Cherry Cream Cheese Danishes Cherry Filling

Ingredients

  • 12 oz. Frozen Dark Sweet Cherries, thawed
  • 1/4 C. Sugar
  • 1 T. Lemon Juice
  • 1 T. Cornstarch
  • 2 T. Water

Instructions

  1. Place the thawed cherries and their juices in a small saucepan. Add the sugar and Lemon juice to the cherries. Place the cornstarch in a small bowl. Stir the water into the cornstarch a teaspoon at a time until a smooth paste is formed. Add the remaining water to the cornstarch, stir well, then add to the cherries. Bring the cherries to a boil, stirring constantly once they begin boiling. Boil for about 15 seconds, or until the mixture has thickened and the sauce coats the back of a spoon. Remove from heat and allow to cool before assembling Danishes.
