It seems like I have an endless supply of projects that I am working on, but I never can find the time to blog about them.  I will try to remedy that with some extra posts this week.
Enough about that though.  I want to show you a project that I completed two weeks ago (see, a little far behind…)
I have never owned a maternity dress.  Yes, I am on my second pregnancy.  I have always just worn skirts and shirts.  I decided that that needed to change and decided to make one of my own.  I was really nervous about making it because I have never made myself anything from scratch, but I decided that I needed to conquer my fears and just get to it.  (sorry I don’t have pictures of the actual dress making process.  I only had one day to complete it before I needed to be able to wear it.)
I found the jersey fabric at Walmart (of all places) and it was on sale for only $2.00 a yard!  I really liked the print and you just can’t beat that price.
The thing I was most worried about was that I didn’t have a pattern to use to cut out the dress.  I knew what I eventually wanted it to look like but wasn’t sure how I was going to get there.  Using a maternity top that I already owned as a sort of a pattern, I created my own bodice for the maxi dress.  Then I simply measured around my belly and cut the fabric for the skirt a little bit bigger so that I could gather it and it would flow instead of just hugging my body.  I ended up using about 2 yards of fabric so altogether this dress only cost me $4.00 to make!
I sewed it all together and wah-lah.  A maxi dress!  I am going WAY out of my comfort zone to show this to you.  Here I am in all my 32 weeks pregnant body glory.

And what outfit would be complete without a coordinating necklace?  Definitely not this one.  I used this tutorial I found on pinterest to make the necklace and will probably make several more in different colors because it was so easy and so cute!
