Baked French Toast
My family has always loved making new traditions and continuing old ones. My mom makes a breakfast casserole for us every year and the last few years she has made this Baked French Toast Casserole. It is delicious and dreamy. I thought I would share this recipe in case you are still looking for the perfect thing to eat Christmas morning.
All the prep happens the night before and takes only a minute to whip together. You put it together and then cover it so that it can sit overnight. This isn’t the best photo, but it does show how it looks after sitting all night and then after the topping has been put on it ready to go in the oven.
The next morning, you just need to whip up the topping and put it on the French Toast and then stick it in the oven. It takes about 35-40 minutes to cook, so the perfect amount of time for you to just sit back and enjoy presents being opened and played with.
Pull it out of the oven when the topping is nice and browned and you are ready to go for the morning! You can eat all together, or people can grab a serving when they are hungry. It tastes delicious drizzled in syrup. I would serve it with some cut up fresh fruit and you are good to go!
The recipe is actually a Paula Deen recipe that is fantastic! You can find it over on the Food Network Website. For this post, I only used half the recipe and it made a ton! Give it a try and let me know how you like it!
this looks really good, and I like that all the prep is the night before. thanks for sharing
